Re: Wakefield Nest near the Straight of Georgia, Sechelt BC, 2020-2024 Seasons

Holly has assured me that 4 "huge gorgeous birds have been circling and yakking away"! One couple have been rebuilding the nest. A couple of days ago "they were very talkative". Sounds very encouraging, as long as the 2 extra eagles fly away! Thank you for this Holly! Enjoy the nesting season with t...

The nest actually looks like it has been added to since I was there late February. Fingers crossed! :luck:
Thanks Karen!

Re: Larson Rd nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast - Seasons 2020-2024

Good for you for daring the drive down Larson Rd! And then the shock of not finding a nest in the nest tree! You're right, I recall as well the year there was a new female, at least that is what we thought, that they nested in the direction you suspect they are now nesting in. We never did find that...

Thank you Karen! There could be eggs, or perhaps not yet. On a warm sunny day like yesterday the eggs can tolerate sun keeping them warm for short periods of time. Pa of course always has to rearrange!
I wonder if Ma left to find something to eat?

Re: Mabel Rd/9th St nest on the Strait of Georgia, Sunshine Coast, Gibsons BC - Seasons 2020-2024

I visited this nest down Mabel Rd last month, could not see it due to fencing put up by homeowners down 9th St. I contacted Gord, one of the homeowners and he suggested I I try viewing it from Mabel Rd, which I did. The mitigation nest David Hancock supervised the building of is not looking used, as...

Re: Stalashen Bald Eagle Nest, Sunshine Coast B.C. Seasons 2019-2024

Both eagles were perched at the top of the nest tree on a visit March 3. Nest looked smallish, needing some creative stick laying. Pa flew to the old nest tree, perched at the top while Ma stayed at the top of the nest tree.
So good to see them ready and waiting for what comes next.

Re: Marsh Nest, Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast BC - Seasons 2020-2024

Visited this nest March 2, 2024. No sights nor sounds of eagle activity, nest nicely ready for use.
A friend who can see the nest from her home has assured me there is a pair of active eagles around.

Re: Chaster Beach Eagle Nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast - Seasons 2020-2024

Thank you for this Karen! The nest looks built up a bit more than when I was last there March 3.
So glad to see Pa is back! He just keeps on keeping on!!

Re: Larson Rd nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast - Seasons 2020-2023

Wow Karen! Welcome back! I'm so glad you caught all this. My camera is not happy, needs fixing so even if car would wish to tackle rutted road down to the nest, I'd have no photos to offer. :( That looks to me like one big healthy eaglet. Look at the size of the beak! Hopefully the one below can fly...

Re: Stalashen Bald Eagle Nest, Sunshine Coast B.C. Seasons 2019-2023

Good to hear both adults seem to be close by Marg. They certainly haven't been very visible this year! Perhaps both are recently new with different habits from our old ones.

Re: Stalashen Bald Eagle Nest, Sunshine Coast B.C. Seasons 2019-2023

I found the writeup below on a local FB page regarding the Stalashen Dr. nest here on the Coast. The youngster is now in rehab while #2 remains in the nest. Good to know it is active! Thank you to the neighbours of this nest who saved the youngster! The Rescue : Baby Bald Eagle. Drama on Stala...

Re: Stalashen Bald Eagle Nest, Sunshine Coast B.C. Seasons 2019-2023

We won't give up on a youngster yet then! :dunno: I have driven through a few more times since last posting and still haven't seen a youngster, don't usually see the adults. I wondered if they were still around.
