Re: Field Rd Bald Eagles, Sunshine Coast, BC - 2019/2020 season

Wow, so much information shared during these postings! Don't you love seeing the crops full as can be?
I hope you will be pleasantly surprised soon to see 2 eaglets at once.
Thanks for all the positivity in the updates! :thumlft:

Re: Chaster Beach Eagle Nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2020

Awesome pics Karen, and this time our youngster is on the moss not under it. The eagles often take in moss to line the nests and perhaps what is here is just a large piece of rolled up moss. If so, I'm sure the eaglet finds it more comfortable to be on it than under it! lol I do hope Pa isn't gettin...

A hearty welcome to you and your brother Pandora Neighbour!
Thank you for the wonderful photo of 2 youngsters here! I'm sure Christine will appreciate not being our only ground observer now that Annemie has left the neighbourhood.
Hoping for successful fledging for both eaglets. :luck: :luck:

Re: Marsh Nest, Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast BC 2019-2020

As I stopped by here Fri June 26 rain drops started falling, lightly enough that I could quickly get a few shots of the lone eaglet sitting on a branch beside the nest. It was overcast and dreary at the time. Looking to me like a beautiful big girl.

I had every good intention of getting some eaglet shots for you on Friday, June 26 Marg but at that specific time of day it decided to rain pretty good. I drove under the nest, could not see any youngsters visible from the car. Sorry! I shall try again.

Re: Reservoir Rd Nest, Sechelt BC 2019-2020 SEASON!

I got up to this nest site on Friday June 26 as it started to rain. No sign of eaglets from the parking area. It was raining too hard to explore various vantage points. :(

Re: Mabel Rd/9th St nest on the Strait of Georgia, Sunshine Coast, Gibsons BC 2019-2020

On talking with my friend who can see this nest from her kitchen it is obvious that it is not being used this year. I visited June 25 around 3-3:30, leaving my camera in the car so I could walk a bit of a way on either side of the nest. Going towards Gibsons I could see a couple of trees that looked...

Re: Larson Rd nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2020

I finally dropped by this nest on Thursday afternoon, June 25 between about 3:30-4:00. On arrival I found this youngster there to greet me. What a treasure. 4852.jpg I would have been satisfied just seeing her but in flew a parent, quietly without any fanfare from eaglet(s). It looked like a bit of ...

Re: Chaster Beach Eagle Nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2020

I dropped by here on June 26 around 2:30-3:00. Despite very low tide I could see nor hear any eagle activity. The tide was so low that the feeding rock was completely out of the water and swimmers were on a sandbar near it, a bit farther out! I don't ever recall seeing the tide so low. I checked the...

Finally, some pics from my visit June 4! I kept thinking I was seeing movement in the nest. Turns out Ma was in there with the kids and some obvious salmon. 4756.jpg Meanwhile Pa was perched near them. 4760.jpg And the salmon chunks are gone. 4762.jpg Thank you Heather I loved seeing your new nest.

Re: Henderson Bald Eagles, Roberts Creek, Sunshine Coast, BC - 2019/2020 Season

Oh my, I also think they could be from an eaglet. Or perhaps Canada Goose? We need options here before we give up on our eaglets. Your whole story though from the eaglets out of the nest, lower in trees, to this could all go together. At the Marsh a couple of years ago I found feathers like these, t...

Re: Chaster Beach Eagle Nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2020

Is that a mossy tree limb that has come down on the nest? Remember last year debris was in the nest likely from some dead branches above? I have thought that 1 of the youngsters was injured and didn't make it then. Hopefully if this is a fallen part of a branch it didn't cause injury! :luck:

Re: Henderson Bald Eagles, Roberts Creek, Sunshine Coast, BC - 2019/2020 Season

Oh no. Yes, too early for fledging unless the female is from south of us and the eggs were laid early. Both of them being out of the nest means they were likely scared out, by a racoon, owl. Likely a racoon as the parents would both be defending them and would fight off an owl. Eaglets could ...

Re: East Porpoise Bay Rd, Sechelt BC Eagles' Nest, by the Blue Heron sign, Sunshine Coast BC 2018-2020

On May 10 I was across the water from this nest site and thought I was seeing a white head. I took a few shots from the picnic table area on Wharf St. Found an eagle perched looking out over Porpoise Bay and someone looking to be in feeding position on a platform when I shot what I thought could be ...
