Re: Wakefield Nest near the Straight of Georgia, Sechelt BC, 2020

Sadly, our nest here did not thrive. Holly thinks an interloper took over for Ma. She and Pa stayed around for a while but no youngsters seen nor heard. No feeding behaviour.
Hoping for a successful season coming up.

Thank you so much for this incredible visit to the nesting site vkhari! You got some marvellous photos as well as a thorough description of what went on.
I was wondering how the season back into the cottonwoods went. Thankfully 1 eaglet survived. :thumlft:

Re: Chaster Beach Eagle Nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2020

We have a fledge of 1 eaglet at this nest! :woohoo: Karen informed me Aug 5 that a youngster was perched along the beach and that Pa was in another tree nearby. I went right down and about 1/2 an hour later there the eaglet still was! I saw an adult fly out of a tree and when looking for it found Pa...

Re: Chaster Beach Eagle Nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2020

I was at the nest site on Wed July 29. No sign of an eaglet but I did find an adult perched in one of the trees near the first parking lot. If you stand at the parking lot looking toward the nest tree it will be the last tree of the collection there. If this is our Pa, there could still be an eaglet...

I dropped down to the nest around 4:00 July 13. An adult was firmly perched in the perch tree to our left of the nest tree with only 1 eaglet visible in the nest to greet me.

Re: Reservoir Rd Nest, Sechelt BC 2019-2020 SEASON!

This is not an easy nest in which to find our eagles. You have discovered 2 vantage points which are working well for you, except for always being in the right spot at the right time for photos ops. ;) Once again, well done Karen. It is so good to hear that the youngsters were quiet with a food drop...

Re: Stalashen Bald Eagle Nest, Sunshine Coast B.C. Season 2019-2020

I finally got down to the nest site and out of my car despite the odd raindrop on July 7 around 2:00 pm. No eaglets seen. I got a nest photo from the beach and while there saw an adult in a perch tree down in Wilson Creek. A lady I have seen often during the years says she was told by someone that t...

Re: Stalashen Bald Eagle Nest, Sunshine Coast B.C. Season 2019-2020

Heather I have gotten my best shots of eaglets here from the beach. Turn right at the bottom of the stairs and walk along a very short way, looking up for the nest until you see it. I keep planning to visit and get thwarted by one thing or another. I will still plan to get down there too though. :lu...

Re: Chaster Beach Eagle Nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2020

Awesome pics Karen, and this time our youngster is on the moss not under it. The eagles often take in moss to line the nests and perhaps what is here is just a large piece of rolled up moss. If so, I'm sure the eaglet finds it more comfortable to be on it than under it! lol I do hope Pa isn't gettin...

Re: Marsh Nest, Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast BC 2019-2020

As I stopped by here Fri June 26 rain drops started falling, lightly enough that I could quickly get a few shots of the lone eaglet sitting on a branch beside the nest. It was overcast and dreary at the time. Looking to me like a beautiful big girl.

I had every good intention of getting some eaglet shots for you on Friday, June 26 Marg but at that specific time of day it decided to rain pretty good. I drove under the nest, could not see any youngsters visible from the car. Sorry! I shall try again.

Re: Mabel Rd/9th St nest on the Strait of Georgia, Sunshine Coast, Gibsons BC 2019-2020

On talking with my friend who can see this nest from her kitchen it is obvious that it is not being used this year. I visited June 25 around 3-3:30, leaving my camera in the car so I could walk a bit of a way on either side of the nest. Going towards Gibsons I could see a couple of trees that looked...

I finally dropped by this nest on Thursday afternoon, June 25 between about 3:30-4:00. On arrival I found this youngster there to greet me. What a treasure. 4852.jpg I would have been satisfied just seeing her but in flew a parent, quietly without any fanfare from eaglet(s). It looked like a bit of ...

I dropped by here on June 26 around 2:30-3:00. Despite very low tide I could not see nor hear any eagle activity. The tide was so low that the feeding rock was completely out of the water and swimmers were on a sandbar near it, a bit farther out! I don't ever recall seeing the tide so low. I checked...

Finally, some pics from my visit June 4! I kept thinking I was seeing movement in the nest. Turns out Ma was in there with the kids and some obvious salmon. 4756.jpg Meanwhile Pa was perched near them. 4760.jpg And the salmon chunks are gone. 4762.jpg Thank you Heather I loved seeing your new nest.
